To wine, or to wine and dine?

It is often said we are creatures of habit. Maybe so. Sometimes, though, outside sources can impact our habits. This has been the case with my imbibing in recent times. The 'outside source' in my case is the plethora of fine wine we are blessed with, and the wonderful technology which has made it so.
There is, though, one habit which has not changed. It is the aperitif of bubbles each evening, taken at 5:30 in Winter months, yet 6pm the other seasons. The choice of bubbles continues to be Franciacorta, Cava and Champagne.
Maybe it is my age. I'm not sure. I am happy to admit I no longer wine and dine. Such is the depth of wonderful wine available I prefer to take my still win to my favorite chair, dim the lighting, then sip away listening to appropriate music. This enables me to focus fully on the wine, without the distraction of food. I have been mildly surprised by the added enjoyment. I have been further surprised at not missing wine with food. May I suggest you try it. I would be pleased to have your feedback.
For your possible interest, herewith just a few of my wine/music choices:
Dry Riesling: Anne-Sophie Mutter concerto for violin with the Berlin Philharmonic
Semillon: Jacques Loussier Trio plays Bach.
Pinot Noir: MJQ's Fontessa.
Cabernet Franc/Sauvignon: Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture.
Thanks for the chat.
Until next time, imbibe well.
I too enjoy wine without food. However, I also enjoy it with dinner.
