Stemware

Maybe it would be more correct to entitle this blog "stemlessware,' for that is the subject of my frustration this day.

Have you noticed, readers, the prevalence of the new stemless glass?. I don't "get" them. They look more like a water glass than a vessel with which to hold of one God's greatest creations. Alas, I am somewhat alone with this view. Many of those around me are using the stemless glass.

I have concluded they cannot be of a romantic persuasion. Surely, one of the pleasures of a wine is holding the stem and looking at it. With the stemless glass one is deprived. The epitome of this pleasure comes with imbibing sparkling wine. Viewing those tiny bubbles make their way up the flute is sheer joy.

On another note, stemware matters not to Hollywood directors. When was the last time you saw an actor hold a wine glass by the stem? No, they grip the bowl every time. Elegance matters not to them. There; I've said it all.

Thanks for allowing me this minor rant. I feel a little better. I hope we are in tune, but welcome your feedback if not.

Until next time, imbibe well.
